Cortex Emergency Notifications are built on the concept of Emergency Call Codes
An Emergency Call Code has a "run sheet" that outlines the steps that need to be taken for a particular emergency.
There are 3 separate types of steps -
- Request a Clinician
- Notify a Clinician
- Manual action - i.e undertake an additional action outside of Cortex
Different types of emergencies/urgent scenarios will have different requirements with regards to who needs to be contacted.
Cortex allows an organisation to define unique Emergency Call Codes depending on the clinicians required for specific emergencies and the nature of notification that the clinician should receive.
Requesting a Clinician
If an Emergency Call Code defines a specific shift role as "Requested" then whenever that emergency call is triggered any clinician who has that shift role will receive a Critical Notification.
Critical Notifications
- ignore device volume
- ignore hardware silent switch
- ignore Do Not Disturb/Focus modes
Notifying a Clinician
If an Emergency Call Code defines a specific shift role as "Notified" then whenever that emergency call is triggered any clinician who has that shift role will receive a standard Cortex notification. These notifications respect volume, silent mode and Do Not Disturb.
Manual Steps
Sometimes a Run Sheet might have steps that need action outside of Cortex e.g. "Contact Fire Department". These can be defined as Manual Steps when building an Emergency Call Code run sheet.
