The following instructions are for Cortex administrators who are able to edit user permissions in the Cortex admin.

Permissions to access Cortex Designer are controlled in the Cortex web admin, under 'Access Roles'

Cortex form building is organised by Groups (typically a department or service), with each group having a specific Authoriser.  The Authoriser is the person who is responsible for signing off on that publication of that group's forms, and for approving form builders for that group.

Therefore, all requests for setting up new form builders should include the approval of the Authoriser.

There are three types of permissions for Designer:

  • Form Viewer - this allows a user to log in to the Cortex Designer, and 'Review' forms, but they cannot edit forms.  Therefore this is used for those who will test and provide feedback on forms currently being built by Form Designers.
  • Form Designer - this allows a users to create new forms and edit current forms.  It allows them to move forms through stages to the Approval stage.
  • Form Administrator - this provides the permissions of the Form Designer, as well as the ability to 'Publish' forms and to create new groups.

To provide a user with access to the Designer, go to the appropriate user, and under Access Roles select the appropriate role.  Then save.

NOTE: If the person is using Cortex Designer on a BYOD or COPE device, they may need to have the appropriate VPN access set up for it to work outside the hospital network.
