Cortex allows users to follow "Locations" to view all patients in a particular location. These lists may be automatically maintained by an Admission Discharge and Transfer (ADT) feed by matching against data in the "Assigned Patient Location" from the PV1 segment (PV1.3).


When an ADT feed is configured for an organisations, locations are automatically created in Cortex, but set to '"archived". Archived locations are not visible in the Cortex user applications as valid location for a user to follow. These automatically created locations must be unarchived in order to appear as options to users in the Cortex application.


Locations can also be manually created.


Creating a Location


To manually create a new location, click the "New" button on the right hand side.


Fill out the appropriate information:


FieldDescription
NameThe name of the location as displayed within the Cortex applications.
Facility IDThis is the ID the Cortex ADT processor will use (in addition to the Point of Care below) to map a patient to this location in Cortex. This should correspond to the value in message segment PV1.3.4.1 - Assigned Patient Location -> Facility -> Namespace Id.

Editing a Location


To edit a location, first search for the location from the locations list.


Click the appropriate location name. 


Click the "Edit" button on the right hand side.


Update the properties of the user as required and select "Save". 


Disabling a Location


Locations can not be deleted once created. In order to prevent them showing in Cortex, a location should be archived. Archived locations will still be used by the Cortex ADT processor to associate with patients however.


To archive a location, search for the user from the locations list.


Click the appropriate location name.


Click the "Edit" button on the right hand side.


Make sure "Archived" is checked.


Click "Save".
