To manage users in Cortex, login to your Cortex instance via a web browser.

If your account has permission to manage users, on the left navigation, you'll see the option "Users" under the "Administration" section. Click this link.

The users view will show a paginated list of users, here you can search for a user. This search will search against username, first name or last name.

Creating a User

To create a new user, click the "New" button on the right hand side.

Fill out the appropriate information:

FieldDescription
First NameThe user's first name.
Last NameThe user's last name.
EmailThe user's email address, used for contact purposes only.
UsernameThe user's username they'll use to log-in to Cortex. This must be unique. For organisations with Active Directory integration, this should match the users AD username or UPN.
PasswordFor organisations which have Cortex authentication enabled, this is the password this user will use to log-in to the iOS application, and the web. If this is left empty, the user will not be able to login. For organisations with Active Directory integration, this should be left empty, as the user will be authenticated against the directory service.
Eclair UsernameFor organisations with Eclair integration, this should match the user's Eclair username.
Intelerad UsernameFor organisations with Intelerad integration, this should match the user's Intelerad username.
Clinical RoleThis describes the role of the user, and is displayed throughout the iOS application to provide other users with useful context for other staff. This is a required field.
Custom Clinical Role NameIf the Clinical Role above is not specific enough, this optional value may be set in addition. If this field is set, it will be displayed instead of the generic role name above.
Access RolesThese are the access control permissions associated with this user. These determine what functions the user has access to in both the Cortex iOS application, and the web administration.
ArchivedIf checked, an archived user is not able to log-in to Cortex.

Disabling a User

Users can not be deleted once created, in order to prevent access to Cortex, a users account should be archived. For organisations with Active Directory integration, the directory totally controls the users ability to access Cortex, however it is also recommended that inactive users be maintained in Cortex as well to prevent these inactive users appearing in selection lists throughout the application.

To archive a user, search for the user from the users list.

Click the appropriate username.

Click the "Edit" button on the right hand side.

Make sure "Archived" is checked.

Click "Save".
